HOWDY FOLKS!

Fall for us means, "It's time for the Fair!"  I'll take a Monday off, which Nolan usually has off anyway, and we plan a trip to the fair.  A few years ago, we went on the last Monday the fair was running and it was a ghost town.  So we decided to ALWAYS go on the last Monday the fair runs because of how wonderful it was.  Last year, the same thing - ghost town.  This year?  Not so much.  Our fair day was shared with over 5,000 other people.  Why do you ask?  Oprah.  She chose our special fair to come visit!!  So of course not wanting to overcrowd everyone else (we knew in advance she was coming) - we took e-x-t-r-a precautions to make sure we arrived AFTER her appearance :)

When it comes to the food - Dietitians, beware!!
We usually split lots of different things.  This year we had a Fletcher's corny dog, roasted corn, fried peaches, cajun fried turkey leg and finally, waffle fried chocolate dipped strawberries.  Even though we didn't try the Fried butter (could you imagine?!?!?), which I heard was actually pretty good, we still considered it a successful evening of fun fair food.

Here are our top 5 reasons why we like the fair...

Nolan:
1.  Roasted corn
2.  Cars
3.  People watching
4.  Roasted corn
5.  The ferris wheel

Me inside my new car ;)  Seriously.

Jessilyn:
1.  Food
2.  The shoe exhibit
3.  Looking at all of the local goods at the general store (honey, jams, body scrubs)
4.  People watching
5.  Big Tex (I love him)

The sights, the smells, the way it's crisp and cool at night while you ride the ferris wheel, the diverse crowd to watch, the way Big Tex waves his hand from side to side, watching each other get joy out of what we like individually, and the quality time we get to spend together... is why we love the fair.
